It's easy to think of plastics as impervious to water, but over time, on a microscopic scale, impurities in plastics react with water in the air. Eventually, the effects of this degradation weaken products to the point of embrittlement and failure.

Its outer shell, made of plastic, has to endure decades in hot, humid conditions. On top of keeping the weather out, the box needs to retain the properties that made it suited to house electrical components.

Luckily, Bamberger Amco's TRISTAR® polycarbonates are made to help outdoor polymer applications performing at their peak for decades. After submitting them for Underwriters Laboratory performance certification, many of our compounds have even achieved F1 and F2 UL ratings.

That means they've been subjected to ultraviolet (UV) light exposure and water immersion at 70C for 7 days, ultimately maintaining similar flame-resistance, mechanical strength, and other remarkable properties.

TRISTAR® PC is one of the most versatile polycarbonates on the market today, with countless applications thanks to our proprietary modifications. It features good processability, as well as consistent properties throughout molding and end-use.

Our high-impact, UV-stable grades perform remarkably well in harsh outdoor environments, while the flame-retardant grades provide advanced protection from fire and smoke.

TRISTAR® PC can also be used to produce decorative components with bright colors, transparency, and excellent surface finishes.
